After the passing of Angus, our loving south African mastiff, our house was so empty without a dog, but we didn’t rush into getting another one- as we wanted the right one.
This wasn’t easy at all, we wanted another mastiff, as we fell in love with this breed- Angus would have protected us with his life and no one could get into our garden when he was out there.
Boerboels are intimidating but discerning guardians of home and family who learned their trade while protecting remote South African homesteads from ferocious predators.
They are loving with family members, and gentle and playful with children.
But as their guard dog role suggests, Boerboels are fiercely protective when they suspect a threat to their home or people.
They require consistent training and socialization from an early age so they are manageable and well mannered.
Anyway, Angus was no longer with us in the garden, but he is still in our hearts.
As I said, we looked and looked, but couldn’t find another mastiff, and one Sunday morning, we saw on the internet – Old english bulldogs for sale.
There were 2 puppies that had the same colors as Angus and also those velvet ears and as soon as we seen them, we knew one of them was coming home with us- which one ? well that was going to be a real hard decision.
All the way home in the car, we talked about it and all night we talked about it ” which one ? ” – ” which one ? ” – the purple or blue one ? – that’s the wee ribbons they had around their neck.
We honestly could have took both of them, but we could only have one- so after a very long decision and talking it over with the family – we decided to have the purple one.
Our we puppy was paid for, but we couldn’t get him for another couple of weeks, and I was heading over to Scotland to see my family- so Åsa would have to pick the wee fellow up and I will see him when I arrive home.
While I was in Scotland, they sent me video’s of the wee boy, playing with his new pal ” Bosse ” Mother-in-law’s dog – sure looked like they were going to be real buddies.
When I arrived back home in Sweden – I was picked up from the train station and there lying in the back seat, was the wee puppy sleeping away – I was going to be sitting there on the way home, just looking and stoking our new arrival to the family.
Anyway, the next step was to give him a name and that didn’t come until a week later & his name was Teegorr !
Why this name ? well, one day while we were out with Angus, a wee girl said to her mum ” Look Mum, a tiger “.
So we believe it was Angus, that told us to call our new puppy Teegorr.
