Just got into the house and put a micro meal into the microwave- then I noticed that my heart beat was very aggressive and couldn’t really get into a regular beat, and then I found it so hard to breath – some thing was wrong !
I phoned Åsa ( my wife ) and told her some thing was wrong and she contacted our neighbor and told him what was going on- he came over right away and drove me up to the hospital.
We arrived at the hospital very quickly and I was taking into the emergency – where tests were done & I think about after 2 hours, every thing went back to normal – but they were wanting to do more tests before they were going to send me home.
I was moved up to the heart department, changed into hospital clothes and waited for more test to be done on me.
The first test was a heart scan, very simple and only took around 15 mins, but after this scan, they found some thing they did not like and properly what caused the problem why I was up here – so they wanted to put a little camera into my wrist and move it up to my heart to have a look.
I was awake all the time and felt that wee camera moving around in my body – a strange sensation indeed, but this also went well – well, at least I thought so !
As about 2 hours later- I took a heart attack and I was rushed back down to the operation table and back up with the little camera and a heart stent was put into place and I felt much better and I thought that it was over and I would be getting home very soon.
I had to stay over night in the hospital and then I met the doctors in the morning and they explained every thing to me and I was totally shocked !!!!
Even though the heart stent did the trick – they told me I had other arteries that were narrowed or blocked and had to be fixed or another heart attack was on the cards for me- so they suggested a triple heart bypass and this would be much better for me – I agreed and this operation was scheduled for 3 weeks time and I was to stay in the hospital.
Why, why, why me ? I never ever saw this coming, I thought I was a well and a very fit and strong man – maybe outside I was- but inside I was falling apart.
Waiting in hospital for this operation was a nightmare, being locked in a room and only able to look out the window, and just counting the days down to my operation,
Åsa ( my wife ) came up to visit me as much as she could, but she works all day and I just wanted her to get home and not drive up to the hospital- but we would phone each other at night and say our goodnights.
It’s so bloody weird- that I longed for this operation as I would get home one week later – certainly a strange position to be in, but I wanted home so bad.
The operation was getting closer – you can read more in Part 2
